A blast from the past!

The Way We Began & How We Grew...

We started Nostalgic ‘N’ More in the fall of 1995 as a financial necessity. My wife, Deb, was home raising our kids, and my unemployment was about to run out. Earlier that year, we had bought our house and had a new baby. My unemployment was our sole source of income at the time, aside from the small gains we made buying and selling collectible items, Americana, and antiques. I didn’t want to go back to doing mechanic or autobody work – I was burnt out with both – but we knew that something had to change.

It was during this season that I spotted a store for rent in downtown Attleboro. I started thinking that for around the same amount we were paying for our outdoor stall at the Taunton Flea Market (4 to 5 days per month), we could rent out a retail space and operate every day! After some thought and discussion, we decided to take a shot at it. We dug out everything we had, everything from old bottles to Hot Wheels and Matchbox toys, you name it, we began stocking it, buying and reselling anything that we thought might interest people.

The first year was a struggle. Deb worked a lot of hours at the store while taking care of the baby. I drove a truck part-time, then worked nights at the store. After our first year, we found a larger store right around the corner and this is where we really expanded. We started to sell antiques, coins, NASCAR, gifts, collectibles, and posters. Shortly after we opened the second store, Deb stepped aside to give more attention to parenting. She opened a daycare out of our house, and I took over full time operations at the store.

Eventually, we built the business and the brand considerably. We did a lot of advertising at flea markets, swap meets, bike shows, and car shows. We even put fliers on car windshields at the local train stations.

Over the years we’ve faced many challenges. We were burglarized repeatedly, and even ran into some opposition from the town regarding used items that we sold. Still, we stayed the course, continuing to build the business and our clientele according to the dream we had. We always wanted to be unique amongst retail stores, offering special and hard-to-find items, and products that really drew the interest of collectors and those enthused by American-made products. We are a different kind of store, we have the flea market mentality, and we’re willing to make deals! We've expanded our inventory each month since being in business, so you'll now see so many different product types, including smoking products, glass, CBD, and so much more.

We look forward to being able to serve you here on on our website, or in person at the store - where you'll find all the stuff you can't get online! Thanks so much for your patronage. We're truly grateful.
